January Event - Gathering of the Transportation Minded
Join us for a joint happy hour with other Baltimore organizations to celebrate the New Year on Monday, January 27th from 5:30-7:30 at Monument City Brewery. We will hear from the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance about transportation in 2020, including likely hot topics for the upcoming legislative session. Mingle with colleagues, enjoy a transit-oriented drink, and make new friends!

January Event - Gathering of the Transportation Minded
The Younger Member Group partnered with YPT Baltimore, ASHE Chesapeake, WDCSITE, WTS Baltimore, and Maryland Association of Engineers for a networking happy hour. Central Maryland Transportation Alliance's Brian O'Malley and Eric Nortongave an overview of important transportation topics in Baltimore in 2019 and how they will impact the transportation community.
December Event - Holiday Happy Hour
The Younger Members Group hosted a Happy Hour at Charles Village Pub in Towson! ASCE YM provided free appetizers!
November Event - Patapsco Valley Park Clean Up & Happy Hour
The YMG hosted a Trail Clean Up on November 10th in Avalon, MD where 15 younger members participated in cleaning up a portion of Patapsco Valley State Park. Following the trail clean up, the YMG provided appetizers for the volunteers at Heavy Seas Brewery.
October Event - Bridge Visit & Happy Hour
The YMG joined the History and Heritage Committee on a field trip to the first ASCE civil engineering landmark in the US! A brewery visit to Jailbreak Brewing as held after the visit where the YMG provided appetizers!
Additional Information
The monument we are visiting is located right here in Maryland at the Historic savage mills. The landmark was a mid19th century iron truss bridge built by Marylander and Baltimore native, Wendall Bollman. The History and Heritagecommittee of the Maryland Section of ASCE has planned this trip with the purpose of updating the documentation on the bridge including the status of the ASCE plaque!
January, 2018 Happy Hour at Ropewalk Tavern
The Younger Members Group hosted a Happy Hour at Ropewalk Tavern in Federal Hill. ASCE YM provided free appetizers!
November, 2017 Joint Happy Hour at Brookeville Beer Farm
The YMG Baltimore chapter joined the Catoctin Branch for a fun social gathering at Brookeville Beer Farm in Brookeville, MD. The Catoctin Branch provided unlimited pizza for the attendees and a complimentary pint glass. The event was a success with over 25 people registering. Thank you to the Catoctin Branch for hosting a great event!
October, 2017 County Happy Hour at Hightopps Backstage Grill
Started last year, the YMG has hosted a Happy Hour in the County in the fall to help grow our presence outside the city. This year for our October event, a Happy Hour was hosted at the popular Hightopps Backstage Grill in Timonium. The event was well attended with as many as 18 younger members participating, many of whom cannot attend events in the city. We look forward to hosting a county event every year, so any suggestions about future locations shall be sent to ym@ascemd.org. Thanks to all who attended!
September, 2017 Bowling Social
The Younger Members Group hosted a Bowling Happy Hour at Mustang Alley's. ASCE YM covered the costs of four lanes and provided free appetizers!
August, 2017 Baltimore Public Works Experience Streetscape Refresh
The Younger Member Group participated in the Baltimore Public Works Experience Streetscape Refresh Volunteer Event. This event helped kick start the revitalization of the historic outdoor sculpture space located in the Inner Harbor. Thank you to the 17 younger members that were able to make it to the event and help make it a success! The YMG provided appetizers at a Happy Hour on the James Joyce Pub Patio following the event.
May, 2017 Senior Send Off Pizza Parties
The Younger Members Group held senior send-off pizza parties for the graduating seniors at University of Maryland, Morgan State University, and Johns Hopkins University. YM members socialized with the graduating students and shared information with them about becoming an ASCE member after graduation.
April, 2017 Parks Run Stream Clean
The Younger Members Group partnered with Wallace Montgomery to assist in the cleanup of the Parks Run adopted stream in Hunt Valley. Thank you to all who came out for this event and helped make it a success.
March, 2017 Aquarium Tour & Happy Hour
The Younger Members group hosted a tour of the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Following the tour appetizers were provided at a Happy Hour at Lienenkugals Beer Garden in Power Plant.
February, 2017 Happy Hour
The Younger Members group held a Happy Hour at Waterfront Hotel in historic Fells Point. Appetizers were provided by the YMG.
January, 2017 Happy Hour & Ice Skating
The Younger Members Group held their January Happy Hour at Sharky's Bar and Grill in Canton followed by Ice Skating at the Dominic "Mimi" DiPietro Family Ice Skating Rink. Appetizers and general admission to the ice skating rink were provided by the YMG.
December, 2016 Happy Hour
The Younger Members Group held their December Happy Hour at Das Bier Haus in Federal Hill. Huge Pretzels and other eclectic German foods were provided by the YMG. Thanks to all who came out and keep an eye out for our next Happy Hour!
November, 2016 Region 2 Assembly and YMG Bowling Social
The Younger Members Group and the Region 2 Assembly hosted a bowling event at Patterson Park Bowling Center on Friday November 11th. The event had 32 attendees including students and younger members throughout Region 2. ASCE YMG and Region 2 sponsored the costs for six lanes and provided pizza for the attendees.
October, 2016 Happy Hour
The Younger Members Group hosted a happy hour at Charles Village Pub in Towson. We had several new members join us along with some regulars. Appetizers were provided by the YMG.
May, 2016 Baltimore Orioles Game
The Younger Members Group hosted a trip to Oriole Park at Camden Yards to cheer on the Baltimore Orioles as they took on the NY Yankees. $5 of every ticket purchased was donated to the Healing Hands Foundation. The evening was filled with food, fun and baseball! The YMG hosted a happy hour prior to the game for everyone attending to meet up and then we went to cheer on the home team!
April, 2016 Senior Send Off Pizza Parties
The Younger Members Group held senior send-off pizza parties for the graduating seniors at University of Maryland, Morgan State University, and Johns Hopkins University. March, 2016 Communicating for Success
The Younger Members Group hosted a soft skills presentation on Communicating for Success by ASCE member and past president, Joel Oppenheimer, P.E. The event was held at the Engineers Club and a deli buffet dinner was provided.

Several members of the YMG assisted with set up and break down of ASCE Maryland’s annual Mini Gold event.
February 2016 Happy Hour
The Younger Members Group hosted a happy hour at Bond Street Social in Fells Point. We had several new members join us along with some regulars. Appetizers were provided by the YMG.
December 2015 Toys-for-Tots Drive
The Younger Members Group held their annual Toys-for-Tots drive in conjunction with the Maryland Section December Meeting. An announcement was made about the drive in the email invitation to the meeting sent to all members. Two marines joined us for the section meeting and during the happy hour that preceded the meeting 2 boxes of toys were collected.
