12/12/23 - We celebrated the holiday season by walking through the Symphony of Lights, networking with engineering friends, and sampling beer at the beer garden lounge at Merriweather Post Pavilion.

11/30/23 - We channeled our (not so inner) children and enjoyed a night out at Dave & Busters!

10/21/23 - We celebrated the beginning of Fall by attending a Craft Fair and Maker's Market at Manor Hill Brewing!

9/11/23 - A group of engineers who recently passed their PE exams offered studying tips, test taking strategies, and helpful resources for the exam. 

8/26/23 - We combined fun and service by participating in a Canoe and Scoop event on August 26! We enjoyed paddling canoes on the river and skyline views while helping to clean the shorelines.

7/20/23 - We had an amazing time at Topgolf Baltimore on Thursday, July 20th! We learned that some of our Younger Members are really talented golf players. Congratulations to Kelly, who won the ASCE-branded merchandise giveaway!

We hope to have events like TopGolf next year - be on the lookout for more fun events coming your way!

6/15/23 - We had so much fun trying to break out of the escape rooms at Mission Escape on June 15th! Congratulations to Team #1, led by our Secretary Alyssa & Treasurer Tony, who were successful in breaking out of their spooky asylum-themed room.

6/10/23 - 6/12/23 - Many congratulations to the Johns Hopkins University team who participated in the National-level finals of the Sustainable Solutions competition of ASCE! The team placed fifth overall at the competition held at University of Wisconsin-Platteville. This all-female team was the highest-scoring rookie team and they are ready to take home the big prize next year. We are so proud of our Maryland-based university, our Secretary Alyssa who mentored the students, and the ASCE Maryland Section Treasurer Rachel who was the Faculty Advisor for the students. We hope to see even more success from our universities at next year's ASCE Mid-Atlantic Student Symposium, and National Competition!

6/8/23 - ASCE Maryland Section hosted the annual awards night on June 8th at the Baltimore Zoo, and our very own Secretary Alyssa won the "Young Civil Engineer of the Year" award! We are so excited for Alyssa and all of her accomplishments and efforts.

5/11/23 - We had a great time at Hightopps in Timonium, Baltimore County, MD this past Thursday! It was awesome to see so many YMs at happy hour. Congratulations to Annie and Imani for winning an ASCE-branded mug!

5/3/23 - 5/6/23 - Our treasurer Tony attended the 2023 ASCE Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Congress in New Orleans, LA! He attended as a Young Member Scholarship winner, awarded by ASCE SEI. We're so proud of Tony and all of his recent accomplishments!

4/29/23 - The YMG board participated in some teambuilding activities with the ASCE Maryland Section on Saturday, April 29th! Our YMG President Sheharyar, Secretary Alyssa, and Treasurer Tony had a great time discussing all things ASCE and ASCE Maryland with the Section President Charlie and other Section leaders. We are excited to build on so many great ideas presented at this event!

4/21/23 - 4/23/2023 - We are so proud of the students who represented our universities of the Maryland Section, at the Mid-Atlantic East ASCE Student Symposium two weekends ago! Students at the University of Maryland College Park, Johns Hopkins University, and Morgan State University participated in the various challenges and competitions through the April 22nd weekend. 

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the Johns Hopkins University "Sustainable Solutions" team, who placed first in the competition, and will be moving on to the ASCE finals competition! Our Secretary Alyssa mentored the team since Fall 2022 on stormwater management, sustainability, green infrastructure, transportation engineering, and drainage design. We are so excited for the team of students - congratulations, Kristen, Gianna, Adeola, Julia, Ciara, and Maya!

4/15/23 - We had a wonderful time on Saturday at Centennial Park, Howard County, MD with our special visitor, the ASCE Maryland Section President, Charlie Mitchell! The weather was perfect and our Membership Chair Moses's grilling was mighty tasty! Our YMG President Sheharyar, Vice President Leslie, Secretary Alyssa, and Social Chair David were thrilled to chat with our Section President and other Younger Members. We hope to see you at our next event!

4/10/23 - Our first FE Exam prep panel was a huge success! We had attendees participate from all over the country, making this our more well-attended event yet. Hats off to our panelists Sam, Rubina, Livingstone, and Marisa, and our moderator, YMG Secretary & ASCE Maryland Section's Professional Objectives Committee Chair Alyssa. We hope everyone obtained valuable information to help take and pass the FE exam! Be on the lookout for our next PE Exam prep panel - coming soon!

2/28/23 - We had so much fun at our bowling event on February 28th! Our President Sheharyar, Secretary Alyssa, Treasurer Tony, and Social Chair David were delighted to meet so many new YMs and catch up with long-time supporters of the YMG. Thank you to all who joined us. We hope to see you at our stream cleanup event with Patapsco Heritage Greenway, in a few weeks!

2/20/23 - We are so excited that the Future City International competition was held in our backyard - Washington, D.C.! Our YMG Secretary Alyssa Sooklal, as well as Maryland Section Director Clint Martin, volunteered as judges at the event on Monday, February 20th. We can't wait to find out who won (to be announced on at 2 PM EST on Tuesday, February 21st). And we hope to continue to volunteers as judges at the regional and international competitions, in the future!

2/8/23 - We had a wonderful time at the ASCE Maryland Section Student Night and Career Fair at the Engineer's Club! Our YMG Secretary Alyssa, Membership Chair Moses, and Treasurer Tony manned the YMG table, and our VP Leslie Tillman helped at the welcome table. It was so great to meet students from Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland College Park, Morgan State University, and the United States Naval Academy. We were really excited to connect with students, Younger Members, and Section leaders alike. Join us again in the Fall for the next Maryland Section Career Fair!

1/26/23 - Our arms have finally recovered from our rock climbing expedition last Thursday at Movement Hampden gym! We stopped by Union Craft Brewery afterward for a social hour.

1/19/23-1/22/23 - The ASCE Eastern Region Younger Member Council (ERYMC) in Charlotte, NC was a huge success! This weekend conference also included the Multi-Region Leadership Conference (MRLC). The 2023 ERYMC was a blast! Our YMG President Sheharyar, Secretary Alyssa, and Membership Chair Moses attended the event in Charlotte, NC. The conference was a meeting of young civil engineering leaders of the Eastern Region of ASCE. Sheharyar, Alyssa, and Moses learned a lot about leadership, professional development, current civil engineering trends, the future of ASCE, and plenty of YMG-related planning tips and tricks. We can't wait to take the skills and knowledge of the ERYMC and make the YMG even better!

Aaaaaaand... congratulations to our YMG Secretary Alyssa, who won the 2023 ASCE "Outstanding Younger Member in Community Activities" award! This is the first National award that an Younger Member of ASCE Maryland has won! Alyssa's dedication to community service and volunteering made her the best candidate for the award. We are so proud of Alyssa for putting ASCE Maryland on the map!

1/14/23 - ASCE is a proud supporter of the Maryland Engineering Challenges, including Future City. The Future City (Mid-Atlantic Region) competition was held on January 14th at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, and our ASCE Maryland YMG Secretary Alyssa (on the right side of the photo) was a judge at the event! Alyssa judged project plans, presentations, and Q&A. Kelly Ambrose (center) and Sarah Taylor (left) of the ASCE Maryland Section executive board were also judges. It was wonderful to see so many amazing projects and connect with awesome STEM students who may be a part of the civil engineering future!

12/14/22 - We had a wonderful time at the ASCE Maryland Section holiday celebration on December 14th at the Engineer's Club! Our YMG President Sheharyar, Secretary Alyssa, Treasurer Tony, and Membership Chair Moses attended the event. It was great to see and chat with so many members of the YMG and the Section. We hope to see you at the next ASCE MD event!
